Did Lydia know what an 'empanada' was? Well, she had seen a picture of one, and so understood that they were a sort of pasty or hand pie, but if she had known that previously (perhaps through one of Professor Raiden's classes), it had quite slipped her mind, and she was mostly preoccupied with hoping that this modern and apparently Peruvian variant was tastier and of higher quality than the ones she had occasionally eaten in Newcastle.

But then, the less said about Newcastle, the better.

Unfortunately, Henry was very far from being able to comprehend the Baltimore of it all, so he'd be sitting in a corner, the living embodiment of a question mark.

Lydia could only interpolate from her own experiences so much. "Mr. Henry, I am afraid I am going to need some more words. Is it the automobiles that are the problem? They're a sort of horseless carriage, powered by a special furnace, and I find it's best not to think about it any further than that." Not thinking about it any further than that got Lydia a long way.

Automobiles didn't go high, though, unless they were in those car movies, so she was unclear on that bit.

"Who's hungry?" Harley asked of no one in particular, much too loudly. "I know I am!"

"Dr. Quinn! I'm so glad you could join us!" Lydia greeted her. Two new faces! This week was surely a banner success for the Supper Club and Lydia's hostessing skills.

Look, the makeup wouldn't have been her choice, but she was assuming Dr. Quinn was from somewhere where it was de rigeur.

"Of course!" Harley replied, fully over enunciating for a bit there, and grinning too wide. "Wouldn't've missed it for the world."

Translation: she'd desperately needed to get out of the house, and sometimes her memory actually bothered to hold onto things.

"Also I'm hungry. That, too."

"That's a very important component of Supper Club," Lydia observed, nodding. "It's good that you've brought your appetite. I'm leaning toward the one with the raisins and olives, myself."

She had Regency taste buds, yes, but obviously the people of Peru thought such a combination of flavors was delicious. It wasn't weird!

"Excellent, a man after my own heart!" Harley declared, and immediately regretted her own phrasing. But ah well, no other choice but to just press on, with an even bigger grin. "Harley Quinn, pleased to meet ya!"

Flint knew how, he just wasn't amazing at it.

Because Rey had explained crosswalks and lights to him and now he wasn't jaywalking constantly, which helped.

"Well done, sir!" Lydia was proud of you, Flint. Look how far you'd come.

There was probably an urban legend about a Colonial ghost that stabbed cars by now.

"Have you met Mr. Henry of Skalitz?" she asked, indicating said gentleman. "He is from--" She knew this. Nope, hadn't stored itself in her memory. "Further back than either of us. From when they didn't even have tea, I believe." Horrors.

Oh, Ignis certainly didn't want to miss out on some (hopefully) good empanadas. Besides, he'd been quite a bit
...lax in his Supper Club attendance recently. And, sure, it had been for very good reasons, and this was just a casual thing, besides, but something like that simply didn't settle well with someone like him.

And also....empanadas.

"Ah, fresh meat, as it were," said Ognis, with the small pull of a smirk that maybe might have been him easing himself into jokes like that; he was pretty sure it would be an unspoken rule of vampirism. "That's excellent to hear. But I don't believe I am. Dr. Quinn's name does sound a bit familiar, so perhaps we have crossed paths at a party or two, but I don't think much more than that. I suppose now I'll have to opportunity to work toward changing that."

"I believe she is a bit less new to the town than Mr. Henry," Lydia said. "She owns Needful Things in the town, although it is currently closed for, ah, a renewal of inventory. Mr. Henry is a student at the school, and hails from some olden time or other. Before Captain Flint or I, at any rate." This continued to rate 'horrors.'
