Nick's Fish House, Baltimore, Maryland, Thursday Evening

Lydia was given to understand that nothing could be more quintessentially Maryland than eating crab by the water, so she had found a location to do so, since the island only provided a lobster-based option. There was even live music!

She had to admit she was a bit nervous about how many people would actually show up, given the rash of animal (and vegetable) transformations on the island at present, but she was soldiering on regardless. She was going to learn how to eat a crab! It was very exciting.

Yeah, it might be a smaller night. But Rey was here after a presumably successful shopping trip. And if she got a water view, great.

"Miss Skywalker, you must remind me to take something back for Mr. Boston," Lydia told her. "With Mr. Blackwood a plant, I'm not sure he's eating properly."

He was stuffing himself with sashimi, Lydia, you needn't worry.

"I'll make sure I do," Rey assured her. "Though I've only met Boston once, he does seem the type to be able to handle these times."

"I do worry about his lack of thumbs, though," Lydia said. "Kitty says everything is ever so much easier when she has thumbs."

"This is true. Anytime I've been an animal it's been difficult to manage some things," Rey said. "He does manage to work the controls on the radio..."

"The squirrels can do that as well," Lydia pointed out. "They're very dexterous with their little paws. Also atrociously good at hair-pulling."

Lydia scowled. "Because they're horrid little rodents who can't respect a lady's sleep."

"I've always been sort of herded, the times I've had to do it," Rey said. "Which is unexpected of squirrels."

"They are most rude," Lydia complained. "But one must make allowances for the facts that they are rodents and given to vice, I suppose." Lydia, this kind of talk was how you got the squirrels to pull your hair more.

"That's true," Lydia agreed. "I've found that threatening to hex them works, as well." But again, might contribute to her pulled hair.

"Well, they shouldn't," Lydia declared, because it was her hair they were pulling. This made perfect sense to her, shh.

"I've just remembered; I wanted to get everyone's opinion but I suppose I shall start with yours. Do you know the new 'brunch' spot on the island? Mr. Raiden's opened it, I believe."

"Well, yes, I had thought so, you see--we went to all of the island's other eateries; it's only fair--but it isn't open for supper. And of course we can work around that, we've moved the time for other places, as well, but then I got so confused with, apparently 'brunch' is more usually a thing for the weekend? I don't know if people would want to move the day as well as the time of our little meetings, or if we should just have Thursday brunch," Lydia explained in her roundabout way.

"It wouldn't interfere with my schedule at all to do Thursday mot ing," Rey told her. "Most of us only work one day a week, the weekend can probably be whenever we want."

"Most restaurants I've gone to have been on the waterfront. And were taverns," Flint said.

Lydia had just finished telling an employee that she would like to order one of the cold seafood platters to be ready when she left, for a friend('s cat) who could not join them, when she caught sight of their new arrival. "Captain Flint! Welcome, sir. It's a lovely evening, is it not?"

It was 92 degrees at 7 PM, was what it was.

"I should certainly hope so," Lydia said. "It is after all what we came for, is it not?" They could also just order one of the many options that came with the crab pre-beaten, but where was the fun in that?
