And everything smelled fantastic, which had led her to decide she'd chosen correctly before even trying a bite.

Who needed geography when you had delicious smelling food? "Ms. Vess, good evening," Lydia said with a little curtsey of greeting. "I trust you are well this week?"

"I am, darling, thank you," she said. "Planning a visit to one of my properties on another plane this weekend, but that should be rather short and uneventful."

Did you hear laughing? Weird. For a moment it sounded like somebody was laughing.

Was that...ominous music playing faintly somewhere from the direction of the flist? So weird. It was probably nothing.

"Spring is a busy time for a witch, you know," Lydia said. "There are flowers and herbs and such that need to be gathered at the proper times, and rites to observe and such." And her wardrobe to refresh. That was also very important!

"Do your spells require flowers and herbs?" Liliana asked, always interested in other branches of magic. "Concoctions and infusions and the like?"

"Some do," Lydia confided. "Some don't. It really depends on what one wants to do. Some of it's just...chanting and making the trade."

"Well, of course you can't make a potion without them," Lydia reasoned, "but otherwise it very much depends on what you're trying to do, and one can always improvise if you haven't the correct materials. My magical education has been a bit...eclectic, I suppose, so I'm rather good at that, if I do say so myself. It's all a matter of being quite firm with your materials, I find."

"No. I assumed it was cultural," she said. Maybe it was! She hadn't found it on the website!

"So, likely, someone had an idea once and it caught on and nobody bothered to question it once it turned into tradition," Liliana snorted. "Because far too many people allow themselves to be peer-pressured by dead people, and I'm a necromancer saying that."
